Disrupting Church As Usual

Becoming disciples. Breaking systems. Building community.

Your new beginning.

The Slate Project is what happens when the faithful, the fed-up, and the curious pull up a chair and ask, “What if church could be different?” We’re a justice-centered Christian community that doesn’t flinch at the fractures: ours, the Church’s, or the world’s. The term slate refers to sedimentary rock; formed over time through heat and pressure, slate begins as something overlooked and is transformed into something strong and layered, beautiful and breakable. It holds both history and possibility, just like us. We’re not here to erase the past; we’re here to learn from it. We aren’t chasing numbers or preserving institutions. We are breaking bread, telling the truth, and fueling each other’s healing. Rooted in Baltimore and supported by ELCA, PCUSA, and Episcopal traditions, we follow Jesus over rigid doctrine.
